Ugh, what a heartbreaking day. You may not know, but I was born and raised in Atlanta. In a city of transplants, I am one of the few who actually call Atlanta home. So, naturally, as a native – I’ve waited nearly 20 years for the opportunity to break the stigma of ‘Atlanta Sports.’ The truth is, I never grew up watching sports so I didn’t understand the obsession. I watched basketball recreationally, so I got the basics the game – but it wasn’t until college that I even got into football. ‘You mean I have to watch the same thing for 4 hours!?” PI, pick six, and fair catch might as well have been the names of sad country songs for my limited knowledge. Over the years, I’ve embraced it (and marrying a die hard sports fan had something to do with it) but I would only watch the big games… and the Atlanta games. Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Braves, and Atlanta Falcons.
As a true fan, this one hurt – bad. I am, however, so proud of our team and our city! After a few weeks of civil distress with the protests & marches, we finally got to all rally behind something together- bandwagoners welcome! So cheers to the Atlanta Falcons, you played a great game and we will get them next time. Together we rise, together we fall.
