So we’ve officially been ‘settled’ in our home for a while, and I’m so happy to be sharing one of my favorite rooms in our house. With our open floor plan, the living room is really the focal point of the main floor and with that – the coffee table. I did a lot of research when choosing this piece. I knew I wanted something simple and small (nothing overpowering.)
We chose a delicate glass table with gold “X” bases. Gold is a theme color throughout our entire house, and that’s why we chose many of the pieces you see on this table. Here are the 6 pieces every coffee table needs:
There are actually two candles on our table (one is hidden in our handy gold pineapple.) We generally only light the Vera Bradley one on the table, the Appleberry Champagne scent is a staple in our home now. Candles are a great way to add size & texture to your table, as well as fragrance.
2) Traditional Books
Your books show your guests your personality. I have to say that I chose our coffee table books solely based on the fact that they were pretty books that I wanted to read. We often swap out the fashion & beauty books on the table with some of our other favorites like HONY & Cravings. HONY is a book based on the popular Facebook page “Humans of New York” by Brandon Stanton (a UGA alumni!) who had traveled around the world photographing and capturing the stories of worldwide civilians. I’m a huge fan of his work and love that my guests are just as touched by his work when they flip through. Cravings is the new cookbook from Chrissy Teigen. This is a new addition that I received as a blogger for Blogging For Books. Chrissy’s book features indulgent recipes from soups and salads to lamb entrees. These meals are easy to follow and have been a hit in our home. With bright and beautiful photography, guests are instantly inspired when they skim the pages.
3) Personal Books
The big book on the table is our engagement album. We had a fairly large engagement party, including 250 of our closest friends & family for a two-day celebration. With our wedding & engagement 3 years apart, this isn’t unusual. I loved putting together my Engagement party album on my own. The process from start to finish took about 2 weeks (once I chose the pictures, that part took about 2 months!) I used Shutterfly to create the book and plan on repeating the process for my wedding albums. Might need a bigger coffee table soon…
4) Decor Elements
You’ve seen Gold Urchins everywhere, and my home has no shortage of them. We love adding elements of gold in throughout the home. On our coffee table, we have two different sizes & types of the gold urchin. Additional gold elements include the two animals. They were my favorite DIY project from my wedding! These gold animal place card holders were the best. I actually see them displayed when we visit the homes of friends & family. I kept a handful of my own after the wedding, can’t wait to break them out at our next dinner party.
I’m absolutely in love with these coasters. Agate is an ornamental stone that is traditionally bright in color. When I saw the pink ones I knew that I needed to add these to my coffee table. They are one of my favorite weddings gifts off of our registry. The pink add depth and color to our table.
I couldn’t finish this post without including flowers. Sahir and I always aim to have fresh flowers in our home. Sometimes from guests, sometimes from holidays, or sometimes just because. Sahir made one of his first solo trips to the grocery store last week and brought these home for me randomly. We love choosing flowers with bright colors and textures. One of our favorite places to shop for florals is Trader Joes. When I hosted my Vera Bradley Fragrance Launch Party earlier this year we decked the entire home with fresh flowers from TJ and they were a steal!
