4 Undeniable Tips To Find Your Confidence

This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency on behalf of Autotrader, as always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep Simply Sabrina’s doors open.

We’ve all been there. You are sitting in front of your computer dreading what you need to do next. Whether it’s talking to your boss about the raise that you know you deserve or forcing yourself to deal with the hassle of buying a new car – where do you even start with a daunting task? How do you find the confidence to tackle things that scare you?*Starts Googling* “How to find the confidence to…”

Woman

Maybe it’s being a woman or a minority or someone who’s just 5 FT tall, but confidence is something that I’ve had to actively work at. When people are literally talking down to you all day, it’s hard to make sure that you are taken seriously and not just cute (although who can deny that.) Here are 3 tips that I’ve found to help me feel empowered when I’m struggling with feelings of inadequacy:

DO THINGS THAT SCARE YOU

Pushing yourself out of your comfort zone can be compelling in the best way. I have always been claustrophobic and morbidly scared of hot yoga (seriously, I won’t go into a sauna with a ten foot pole) but I convinced Sahir to take a low level heated class with me – he was awesome at it, as always – ugh and while I was freaking out a bit during class I did manage to make it through and felt proud of myself on the other end. I wouldn’t recommend throwing yourself into stressful situations for fun, but opting for baby steps to push yourself can be beneficial and a boost to your confidence when you do things that you didn’t think you could.

YOU ARE YOUR STRENGTH

Remember that no one else is you, and that’s a good thing. Your fresh perspective and unique experiences are what make you compelling. It’s okay to find inspiration in the work of others, but try not to compare yourself. This can be especially hard in the social-media fantasy that we live in. Remember never to compare your daily life to someone else’s highlight reel.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOUR TOOLKIT

Knowledge is everywhere and don’t be afraid to ask questions. For example, I literally “google” everything. The internet is a magnificent place that is designed to be a wealth of information. Use that to your advantage. For example, if you are shopping for a car make sure you use the Kelley blue Book Price Advisor that’s seamlessly integrated into Autotrader website. More research means more assurance that you are making the right move.  I’m currently coveting this 2017 Range Rover Evoque and with this new Autotrader + Kelley Blue Book pairing I will be absolutely sure that I am getting the best deal when searching for a car and feel super confident.

SET SMALL MILESTONES

I totally believe in New Year’s Resolutions, but why wait till the New Year to pledge promises. Set small goals for yourself to meet on a weekly and monthly basis that work towards your bigger goal. For example something on my list has been “Make a cookbook of mom’s family recipes” but that’s pretty ambitious to tackle in one sitting. Instead I have a monthly goal of learning 2 recipes from my mom a month. It’s better to celebrate small wins to keep you motivated towards your bigger goals.

Confidence can be tricky and there isn’t just one way to find it. It’s something you should continue to work on. We all have insecurities, but everyone has qualities that make them unique and that should be celebrated. Don’t take the haters too seriously either. After all, you could be the sweetest & juiciest peach in the pile and there could still be someone who doesn’t like peaches. Whatcha gonna do? *insert girl-with-hand-out emoji here*
