The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Done for Beauty

The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Done for Beauty

When I was younger, I – like many South Asian women – realized that with my darker complexion came the curse of dark hair. I wanted to shave my legs for gym class and even my arms, but my mom insisted that I wait until I was older to get a wax. Maybe I was ahead of the whole “Millennial Instant Gratification” thing – but waiting months to wax was not my jam. She tried her hardest to convince me that my hair would grow back like a man’s sharp, coarse, and darker – but I didn’t care. I hated the dark hair and much to do the dismay of my mom, I…

Things I Can’t Stop Wearing

Things I Can’t Stop Wearing

As someone who is into fashion, it kills me that I’m actually extremely boring. Career-wise I spent the last 3 years in sports so leggings became a closet staple. Even when I switched to a role in entertainment a few months ago I realized that habits are hard to kill…

4 Winter Nail Colors That Are IT Girl Approved

4 Winter Nail Colors That Are IT Girl Approved

I’m guilty of one of the cardinal breaches of getting your nails done. The sin of being basic and getting the same shade every – single – damn – time. Like clockwork, when the weather changes, I suddenly develop courage and try to mix it up. Here is what my nail salon experience looks like monthly.

I call to make an appointment and inevitably show up 15 minutes late. Sure enough, 6 people show up at the exact same time and we are passively (aggressively) trying to beat each other and get seated first. I immediately turn to the wall and pick a statement color and mosey my way to the lady declaring that “I’m ready!” She confirmed, “Did you pick your color?”, “Sure did!” – I respond as I innocently blink my eyes as I walk past client numbers 2-5 “Ha! Beat You! I say (in my mind) with an evil laugh”

The next 45 minutes are grueling torture because I’m covered in foil like a…

4 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A LEATHER JACKET

4 THINGS TO LOOK FOR IN A LEATHER JACKET

Last spring I made an impromptu purchase when I was in Philadelphia visiting my sister and I bought something I wouldn’t need for months. Sahir was certain that I wouldn’t ever need the jacket this time of year and by the time winter rolled around again, I would be on to the next and it would be trapped in the back of my closet with the UGG boots and white denim jackets that just never got cool enough to wear again. But when I saw this faux leather jacket at…

The Perfect Petite OTK Boots

The Perfect Petite OTK Boots

For years, yes years, I’ve bought and returned at least 6 different pairs of OTK boots. And trust, boots are not fun to pack back up and return. I love the look of them, but my petite frame has made it near impossible to find a pair that work for me. When the boots are supposed to be over the knee, but…
