One of the things that I struggle the most with is snacking. I do a good enough job holding out, but the minute the clock strikes 3 PM I need to get a latte or a snack – sometimes both! I’ve learned to allow myself these small delights, but in a more health-conscious way. Everything is fine in moderation and I hate taking things completely off the table because that’s when I want them the most!
I try to make my own snacks so I know what goes in them. It’s a little more effort, but barely, and I can feel better knowing there isn’t any added sugar or sodium. Whenever I make a trail mix I usually use a few of my favorite things. The worst thing is getting a store-bought mix that has raisins (that you think are chocolate) or other things that you just don’t like. Fill it with your favorites so you can enjoy every bite. Here is my recipe for my homemade trail mix – OREO Thins Bites not optional 😉
Nut of choice – Almond, Walnut, Pecan, or Peanut
1 serving of crumbles of OREO Thins Bites Fudge Dipped Original creme (1 serving size is 9 pieces)
Layer, mix, and enjoy!
I like to layer my trail mix and put them in small mason jars to keep with me at work or gift a jar to a friend! I usually make my mix on the weekends and it just takes a quick trip to Kroger to pick up the ingredients. I have to admit that the OREO Thins Bites are a new addition. I just tried them a few weeks ago when wandering through the cookie aisle at Kroger and I’m obsessed. They are bite size so I don’t feel guilty popping a handful of snacking and you get the deliciousness of traditional OREO Cookies on a smaller scale without the extra crème. There are three other varieties available too if original isn’t your thing (OREO Thins Bites Fudge Dipped Original creme, OREO Thins Bites Fudge Dipped Mint creme, or OREO Thins Bites Fudge Dipped Coconut creme) your trail mix can be perfectly adjusted to your flavor preferences. Head to your local Kroger to try them for yourself! Snacking made delicious.
