Three Common Mistakes That Will Destroy Your Skin

Three Common Mistakes That Will Destroy Your Skin

They say that with good skin you don’t even need to wear makeup, well — good skin and lash extensions. I, on the other hand, am more of a skeptic. I think that skincare is so important to your overall health & beauty routine, but am I ready to throw in the towel on my concealer & compacts? Not a chance. As someone in my 20s, understanding my skin now is crucial since prevention is the key to many future skin issues. There are things that we need to learn about our skin and tailor products to meet our individual needs, and then there are things that we know we should be doing and aren’t – let’s start there…

What We Need To Teach Our Moms About Beauty

What We Need To Teach Our Moms About Beauty

There are literally a million things that we can learn from our moms, (no really but how do you fold a fitted sheet?), but the new-age of makeup is what our moms can learn from us. What is it about this generation that’s different then past generations? Is it that we are surrounded by “beautiful” people of every skin tone? Is it the resentment that we spent our entire lives under an umbrella on the beach while our non-brown friends played volleyball in the sand? Is it that we are FINALLY…

WHAT TO DO WITH $150 AT SEPHORA: FACE

There are so many different combinations when it comes to your face, but at it’s core you need the basics: primer, foundation, concealer, highlighter, bronzer and blush. The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Done for Beauty

The Worst Thing I’ve Ever Done for Beauty

When I was younger, I – like many South Asian women – realized that with my darker complexion came the curse of dark hair. I wanted to shave my legs for gym class and even my arms, but my mom insisted that I wait until I was older to get a wax. Maybe I was ahead of the whole “Millennial Instant Gratification” thing – but waiting months to wax was not my jam. She tried her hardest to convince me that my hair would grow back like a man’s sharp, coarse, and darker – but I didn’t care. I hated the dark hair and much to do the dismay of my mom, I…

4 Winter Nail Colors That Are IT Girl Approved

4 Winter Nail Colors That Are IT Girl Approved

I’m guilty of one of the cardinal breaches of getting your nails done. The sin of being basic and getting the same shade every – single – damn – time. Like clockwork, when the weather changes, I suddenly develop courage and try to mix it up. Here is what my nail salon experience looks like monthly.

I call to make an appointment and inevitably show up 15 minutes late. Sure enough, 6 people show up at the exact same time and we are passively (aggressively) trying to beat each other and get seated first. I immediately turn to the wall and pick a statement color and mosey my way to the lady declaring that “I’m ready!” She confirmed, “Did you pick your color?”, “Sure did!” – I respond as I innocently blink my eyes as I walk past client numbers 2-5 “Ha! Beat You! I say (in my mind) with an evil laugh”

The next 45 minutes are grueling torture because I’m covered in foil like a…
