I’m guilty of one of the cardinal breaches of getting your nails done. The sin of being basic and getting the same shade every – single – damn – time. Like clockwork, when the weather changes, I suddenly develop courage and try to mix it up. Here is what my nail salon experience looks like monthly.
I call to make an appointment and inevitably show up 15 minutes late. Sure enough, 6 people show up at the exact same time and we are passively (aggressively) trying to beat each other and get seated first. I immediately turn to the wall and pick a statement color and mosey my way to the lady declaring that “I’m ready!” She confirmed, “Did you pick your color?”, “Sure did!” – I respond as I innocently blink my eyes as I walk past client numbers 2-5 “Ha! Beat You! I say (in my mind) with an evil laugh”

Managing a full-time job, an almost full-time job, home, and family can get overwhelming. I generally have a mini-breakdown once a week where I have to tidy my entire house before I can get anything done because I’m just so OCD like that. There are a few rules that I live by to make things a little less stressful and get a little more done. Today I am sharing them with you…View Post
There is no particular reason why I am entitled to give you advice on marriage. I’m not your grandparent who has been married 50 years or an award-winning relationship counselor. When you get engaged, you’ll learn that…View Post
I get it. You’re busy. I’m busy – we all have things to do and somehow working out never quite makes the cut when it comes to priorities. We have others counting on us: our coworkers, kids, family members, spouses, etc. how in the world could you take an hour to yourself? This isn’t a blog post that is going to convince you to make the time for yourself or give you tips on how you can turn it all off and focus on you for an hour. Nah, you gotta do that yourself. BUT once you think you…View Post

Last spring I made an impromptu purchase when I was in Philadelphia visiting my sister and I bought something I wouldn’t need for months. Sahir was certain that I wouldn’t ever need the jacket this time of year and by the time winter rolled around again, I would be on to the next and it would be trapped in the back of my closet with the UGG boots and white denim jackets that just never got cool enough to wear again. But when I saw this faux leather jacket at…View Post
