One of the things that every 20/30-something hears is how important preventative skincare is. This is something I’ve known my entire life… but what exactly does that mean? I’ve spent the last 6 months developing a custom skincare regime that works for me and I wanted to share that with you today. I use readily available products that are long-lasting, good for your skin, and most of all, easy! The last thing I need after a long day is an even longer night time routine. Here is my 6-minute step by step skincare regime:

I used to swear by makeup removing wipes. I would use one every time I washed my face until I realized that this was wasteful.. and expensive. Then I discovered Bioderma. Micellar water is becoming more common, but it is essentially water that gets all of the dirt and makeup off of your face. They say that it’s a ‘no rinse’ formula, meaning you can use the micellar water on your skin without having to wash with water afterwards. I think this is great! But, it’s not what I do.

Removing the makeup, dirt, and oil off of your face is so important, especially at night. I put the micellar water on a soft cotton pad and I gently rub the solution on my face. It takes very little and the makeup just comes off in a single swipe. (I’m talking long lasting lip stains too!)

If you have ever had a facial, one of the things the esthetician will ask you is “What products are you using on your face?”. Since I previously had no plan, this was often a disappointment to my facialist. That is, until I mentioned that I use a Clarisonic. Clarisonic is the holy grail of skincare products and there is nothing quite like it. I’ve been using mine for 4 years and recently upgraded from the Mia to the Mia 2. The Clarisonic Mia 2 is gentle on your skin, but cleans 6x better than if you were to wash your face by hand. Every dermatologist that I’ve ever been to has said that the key to healthy aging skin is prevention and keeping your skin clean.

One of my favorite features of the Mia 2 is that it will guide you through the face cleansing process including a timed guide on when to move onto another part of your face. The Mia 2 is waterproof and gentle enough to use twice a day, so you can take it into the shower too! You can get yours for 15% off with promo code “HERCAMPUS” here!

I’m a huge fan of CosMedix skincare line for anti-aging products. You can read all about my favorite products in a post I did about the basics of skincare here. I answered all of your burning questions including, “WTF is Retinol and do we really need it?” For every night use, I start with the ‘Emulsion‘ moisturizer then apply the “Radiance” serum and finish with the “Define” retinol treatment every other day. CosMedix is on the pricer side, but I have been using the products every day for over 3 months and haven’t made a dent. You use about a dime size amount so the product has a long lifespan.

Lastly, I always put on eye cream. At The Blog Societies’ annual conference this year, a speaker told us, if you don’t have an eye cream stop on the way home and get one. Lucky for us, IT Cosmetics has a fabulous eye cream, Bye Bye Under Eye Cream, that I use every night at the end of my skincare regime. Lightly dab a small amount above and below your eyes with your ring finger.

That’s it! The entire process takes me about 6 minutes to do and my skin is so clean afterward. I love makeup, but there is nothing like a good night’s sleep knowing that your skin is resting and can breathe. Let me know if you have any skincare tips in the comments below.
