When we bought our home a little over a year ago, interior design became my obsession. I was reading every blog, looking up every DIY project, and in general trying to learn what I could about this amazing skill. It seems so simple, but making things look complimentary to each other without being too similar is an art form. Now that we’ve been settled for a while we are looking at round two. Some pieces of my home are perfect and don’t need to change (guest room, entryway, living room), others are long term projects (kitchen, guest bathroom), and some are things that can be small but significant (master bedroom, patio, dining room, basement) I’ve been trying to tackle them one at a time, but they all seem to be in limbo – there is literally nothing I hate more.
Although, it is coming along. If you follow along on Instagram, you know that I’ve been working with a local artist to commission my first piece of real art. The piece will live in the dining room and I’m getting it this week (eek!) The patio is halfway done, but the rain every single day this summer has put a literal damper on our patio painting schedule. Next up? The basement! I have my sights set on the West Elm Axel Sofa, and a few of the other pieces in this slideshow. How gorgeous is the wood shoe rack?
